NLU’s Human Lactation Studies programs are two of the only CAAHEP-accredited university programs that lead to a degree in lactation. These programs provide the skills and training necessary for graduates to counsel expectant birthing and nursing parents about infant feeding and human lactation. Students may choose from the generalized program or the IBLCE Pathway 2 concentration.

Our program will help graduates build a foundation for their career in human lactation. Many work in a clincal setting such as a hospital, obstetric office, or pediatric office. Others choose to work in a public health setting for federal programs such as the USDA Women, Infants and Children Program. And still others go on to open their own private lactation practice or nonprofit organization.
